Spring Break Ends

Spring Break is over and that meant we had to take Rapunzel home. We had a lot of fun and all of us were sad that the week was over. The good part of the week ending was that we got to take a trip to the sticks to return her to her family.

Spring in the Sticks is a very beautiful time. I love taking Baby Bug out there when we can get outside and really enjoy the flowers and the dirt and the dogs and did I say dirt already? We don’t have any kind of yard where we live at the beach. Baby Bug can’t roam free any farther than my sliding glass door. So letting her walk around and explore my mom’s half acre was really fun.

My mom (the green thumb of the family) decided it would be a great experience to plant seeds with her granddaughters. All three of them. It was great. Baby Bug has always liked leaves and plants and dirt but giving her little round seeds that looked like a “ball! ball! ball!” was even more fun. She could have sat there and put seeds into dirt all day. We have no idea what was planted in the end. It’s going to be entertaining to see what comes up where.

Another good thing about the sticks is that you never know what to expect. Like broccoli on the grill for dinner and an impromptu twilight wiffle ball baseball game! I can smell summer in the air already.

What fun! I have memories like at of my grandmother’s. I hope that Baby Bug’s plants grow tall and strong, so that she’ll be a green thumber too!

I remember digging in the dirt with my Grandma White…back then we did not have those neat little six-pack containers, we just had regular dark loam in Pennsylvania. It crumbled and smoothed…the only clay I knew was imported for the tennis courts…She liked vibrant colors like the oranges and yellows of nasturtiums, while I favored (even then) the pale pinks and blues of sweet peas. These are the times the girls will remember…doing things with someone, not the razzle-dazzle of Disneyland entertainment.

What a great ending to a wonderful week. I hope Rapunzel treasures her first week with her Auntie and expects many more wonderful Spring Breaks to come.

Love dinner on the BBQ, it looks delicious!

Awww, I guess it had to end sometime. Looks like a lot of fun at Gramma’s house. Loved all the pics of the kids together. I especially like the picture of your mom holding BB and planting seeds. They both look so happy together.

OH! I notice you got BB a new paci. Does she like it as much as her others? I can only get Audrey to take one kind of paci. All others are toys to her.

I know I have said this before, but your photos of the sticks always make me so homesick for my mom’s hometown, and visiting my Grandma and Grandpa when I was a kid, and sitting on my aunt’s patio drinking coffee and talking to cousins…*sigh* I don’t know when we’ll get to visit Beaumont again.
