Operation Baby’s Room: Part 2

Triumph! Everything that can be done, is done in the new baby’s room. I did not leave the house yesterday. I did not pass go, I did not collect $200. I just stayed inside and sorted through my many boxes until I had found a place for every last little bit of my stuff.

STUFF STUFF STUFF! It’s so much work to go through. I have hives from all the dust. I’ve had them for three days now. At first I thought it was from being over-stressed. But now I think it’s just dust, and maybe my body is starting to wear down from lifting so much AND the fact that I have a cold. My first cold in over nine months! I’m not going to complain about it. This is the longest time I’ve ever gone without catching something. I always catch every cold that comes along.

Now that everything has a place, I just need to do a few things:

1. pick up the crib
2. assemble the crib
3. buy a rug to cover the stain in the middle of the floor
4. figure out some kind of dresser/plastic drawer unit for the closet
5. buy some hangers for baby clothes
5.5 hang up baby’s clothes!
6. line up all the little baby shoes!
7. set up a changing area/station on my desk
8. buy diapers and stuff…
9. get slip cover for big ugly chair
10. move big and freshly covered chair from porch to baby’s room
11. relax

I know some of you will be disappointed that I’m not painting a mural or doing something really super creative. My feelings on that are this: I’m tired. Plus, I really like Toby’s art and I think a mural would muck it up. To me, the track lighting on his photographs brings a sort of sophistication to the room. I like staring at pictures of nature. It’s going to be an oasis for both of us. I also still have to work in this room. I feel bad that it can’t be all about the baby all the time but I really want to see if I can swing the stay-at-home-mom/freelance designer gig. I think I can do it.
