As part of a share-your-story program for Kellogg’s Love Your Cereal, I’m writing a series of weekly posts about breakfast routines, nutrition and all the million-and-one reasons why we should love cereal!
This week’s topic is: Great things can come in small packages; what is your favorite meal in a bowl? – e.g., fruit, soup, cereal, etc.
Oh bowly-bowl how I love thee. I like everything in a bowl! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert…it’s all good. I’m one of those people who likes my food to mix up when I eat it. I don’t care if my broccoli touches my mashed potatoes. Bring it on! In fact, if I can eat my salad first and then leave the salad dressing in the bowl to mix in later with my dinner, that’s even better! More flavor! Lasagna with a hint of balsamic dressing is delicious! I’ve liked those blended flavors so much it’s even inspired me to add a splash of balsamic vinegar to many of my main dishes when I’m cooking them.
But then again I know that could be just me. I know lots of people who don’t like mixing their foods up and will even go so far as to rinse off their forks between courses.
Anyway, we’re not talking about forks. We’re talking about bowls. Bowls bowls bowls. Why are bowls so great? Is it because they fit so nicely in your hand? Is it because they are a circle, and circles are just calming shapes? Tell me. I do not know! I just know I love them.
It sort of bothers me that I don’t have that many pictures of food in bowls. I take pictures of food all the time but as I’m sifting through my Flickr stream looking for photos to put in this post I’m not finding that many!
