cat-sitting

Bug and I are going to be cat-sitting all next week for Bethany. We won’t really sit on the cats. We love Katy and Lily. Who knows what kind of trouble we will get into though. I’m thinking of re-decorating their living room in red velvet and maybe some marble columns. What do you think?

A Kuky Visit!

the Kuky family

The Kuky Family came to visit Bug and I at the beach yesterday. I love them. I love it even more when the internet and my real life collide. The only problem is I think I make my beach life look a little better in pictures on this blog than it is in reality. I spent a lot of time apologizing for the mismatch. First there was the baking sun and the steep sweaty walk back to my house and then my horrid carpet and lack of air conditioning. It is so hot in my house around 3 pm.

Isabelle and Dad

Ask anybody who has been here. It’s awful. It makes you just want to check into the nearest hotel and soak in a bathtub of ice cubes. Then I didn’t even have anything to offer them to drink other than some really weak iced tea (that I had tried to make stretch by adding way too much water). What kind of hostess am I? Obviously not a very thoughtful one.

But it all didn’t matter because you know what happened when it was time for them to leave? Isabelle didn’t want to leave. She cried and cried. They had to carry her out. I felt so loved. It may have been Bug’s large collection of new and different toys or it could have been that she just liked us. I’m going with the latter.

Pizza Playdate!

squish

We had a pizza playdate yesterday. It’s a great idea. You’ll have to hit Jen up for the pizza dough recipe but I’m sure it’s easy. We just showed up when the dough was ready to punch down (my favorite part) and play with but I don’t think it’s hard to do. At least I hope not because I’m thinking I might cook this for dinner some time soon.

patta pat

Baby Bug and Audrey always get along so it doesn’t really matter what they do but watching them play with the dough was really fun. “More flour!” they kept asking. Two-year-olds are so zen. They could care less about the end result, it was all about the feeling of sticky dough and silky dry flour. Squish, squish, squish—it was better than play dough.

After enough fluffing and patting and playing pat-a-cake, the dough was ready for toppings. They both ate enough cheese during that step that they weren’t hungry to eat lunch later. But then I’m used to that whole routine. Baby Bug seems to be on an every-other-day hunger strike as it is. I’m just glad she snacked on cheese and not her usual food of choice—gummy fruit snacks.

It was delicious! I know because I ate Baby Bug’s portion and my portion. I really need to stop doing that.

All in all, it was a fun play date. I dare you to look into these eyes and disagree.

p.s. Here’s Jen’s recipe!
