The Christmas Walk and the Papasan Chair of Death
December 7th, 2009Notes:
1. When I babysit I take Bug with me. We spend the night because the kids I babysit live in a really big house with a guest room and it’s a lot easier just to crash there than to pack up and leave when the parents get home after midnight.
2. I don’t know why I say Starbucks is a tradition. We go there way too often.
3. The illustration of me at the bottom doesn’t look like me, I know. It’s just that I had a bad hair day.
4. Sonja is this Sonja. She’s super fun. I’m sorry I drew her so poorly but I that’s just how these diary illos go.
5. You’ll have to ask Bethany about the Papasan chair. I hope she lives to tell the tale. I also hope she doesn’t kill me for drawing about it.
6. Christmas walk photos to come.
7. Now I’m off to run a thousand errands in the rain. Wish me luck. We Southern Californians know nothing about driving in wet stuff.

Love the ilos! I hope Bethany shares the papasan chair of death story!

Just got back from braving the grocery store. Why do kids love moving very slooowly when its raining?

I doubt I’ll blog it, so…I sat down in the papasan chair, not realizing that it was off balance, and the top part came off and spilled me out of the chair. I whacked my neck on the windowsill as I went down, which hurt. But thank God it was me that it happened to, and not one of the kids! Also, I wasn’t seriously injured, just some sore muscles and a bruise.

And I had a Costco-sized bottle of Ibuprofen, so we drugged Bethany up (legally & responsibly, obviously).
Also – I think you adequately captured my floppy hair. I like my illo – I’m honored to have been SAJ illo-ized! :)

I **LOVE** the illo diary entries. PUH-LEEZE do more of them!! I am inspired to try to do my own, but alas I have no drawing talent so I must live vicariously through you. :)

I grew up in Chicago so consider myself an all-weather driving expert and while California drivers are baaaaaad at driving in the rain, the roads really don’t help. There’s nowhere for the water to go!

Every time you post these ilio diaries you make my day a bit happier. I can’t even draw a stick figure so I love your artwork and the clever way you put the story together!

I love your sketch blogging. They ALWAYS make me laugh. Thank you for that.

You guys are just too hilarious. The illos really show how much you get done in a day, you are a madwoman
