the house-sitting comes to a close
June 20th, 2009Well, my house-sitting stint is nearly up. The mail has been collected. The cats have been fed and petted. The cat boxes are clean and the trash has been taken out. I might take a spin around the kitchen with the steam mop but pretty much everything is done. I’m a little sad my stay at this five star resort is over. I’ve really enjoyed myself here.
I got some paintings done in Annalie’s garage art studio. I took the liberty of hanging them in the guest room since those walls were bare and Bethany lets me get away with pretty much anything here—even putting nails in the wall. I might leave them here, I might sell them. I don’t know. The guest room needs some art. But I don’t know. Bethany already has quite a bit of my art here already.
Too much maybe?
There was this empty frame sitting on the floor in the living room. I’ve noticed it’s been there a while. Bethany probably has plans to put photos in it but hasn’t gotten around to it yet. So I just sort of um… printed out some illos and stuck them in the frame and hung it on an existing nail. She can discard my print out. It’s on cheap copy paper and my toner is running out so it’s not like she’ll be throwing away a masterpiece. I just couldn’t resist, the frame was begging for some art just sitting there all empty like that.
Maybe if Toby and I ever fall down on our luck I can hire myself out as house-sitter/art decorator. I think that would be a pretty good job.
So that’s it. This house-sitting stay has been extremely productive. I accomplished all the things I set out to do: some Gocco printing, some pottery painting, some normal painting, visits with family and a trip to Sea World with Toby. I couldn’t really ask for more. Sign me up for next year!

Oooo! Let me be a customer! I would LOVE a house-sitting artist filling my house with your fantastic work! Heck, I’d plan a vacation just to get away to have you do that. Phoenix is too far of a drive for you, right? :o)

Hahahahahaha!
You not only fed my cats and watered my plants, you mopped my floor AND decorated my house! (And you’re picking us up from the airport!) You officially are the Best Housesitter Ever.
See you in a few hours!
(p.s. We’re at the airport in Denver. Free wifi rulz.)

you can come house sit for me any time. I have a dog though instead of cats… is that a problem? :D
I’m glad to hear you guys had a good time. I love the look on Bug’s face in the last photo. What a ham.

ps. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one with a tan child. I swear I use sunscreen on him but he’s tanner than I’ll ever be. Not fair. :D

Why it looks like you and Bug had such a good time house sitting! You make even the most mundane job fun. Again- you add color to a black and white world.
I’d be thrilled to bits to have such a good friend like you house sit. Lucky Bethany!

Right. I don’t have a cat, and I’m not planning any trips, but do you want to come house-sit and decorate for me? I may not have a garage art-studio, but I do have a washing machine. Pretty please?
June 20th, 2009 at 11:27 pm
Seriously!!! You can come housesit for me anytime. I have a very low maintenance cat and tons of empty wallspace! : )

Love the painting of the bear in the woods! So cute.
And you’re such a good friend. :)

You are the best housesitter ever! Now I look back on all the years of house sitting I did, and really, I did nothing but take advantage of having a pool for a week and cuddling with a dog. Now I have a dog and a pool and my house sitter sleeps all day long and probably will only leave the basement area to feed the dog twice a day, wish you were closer!

We have three cats that need caring for in early August. How do you feel about a trip to Boston?
Love those tree pics. LOVE THEM.

I think you need to house sit my house when Jeremy and I leave for NC. How do you feel about feeding turtles? :D

If there was an award for best housesitter/art decorator you’d win it hands down!
June 22nd, 2009 at 8:24 am
Gosh! I absolutely LOVE those two “bear in the woods” paintings! They’re really cute! :o) Really, really. Thanks for sharing your art with us!

I need a house sitter a week in July… interested?? ( I also need some new artwork )
:)

So glad you had a good time. Your artwork is amazing. I’m in the midst of a major blog overhaul and the girl doing it for me is just waiting on me to come up with my own image (my idea). Starting to regret it. All my drawings (of a baby) come out looking like uber creepy impish devils. Who knew coming up with a drawing resembling my imaginary image of my adorable Hobo baby would be so impossible. Grrr. Send some creative juice my way, eh?

I love your artwork above Debbie’s old spice cabinet, brings back a lot of memories. Debbie just said the other day that I need a “Brenda” so I can visit my in-laws.
