Well, we do not actually have a Krispy Kreme donut shop near us in Ottawa (Canada). However, our local Wal-Mart is kind enough to sell them…I try not to buy them!

I think I could probably live off nothing but sweets for the rest of my life and be perfectly happy! I also just gained 5lbs just looking at these pictures ;-)

Damn you gestational diabetes! I would give anything for a hot glazed Krispy Kreme right now. Luckily it is two minutes from the hospital I am delivering at so I’ll just add those to the growing list of treats that people will have to bring me after I deliver.

When I die, I hope and pray that there is a Krispy Kreme where the light is always on and they’re always hot and fresh.

oh man – there is a KK an hour from me, and twice I have made the special pilgrimage to go there – and twice the doughnuts weren’t hot!!!

(but, I had other doughnuts instead that were great. but I, too have missed out on the goodness that is a hot Krispy Kreme.)

Being from NC, a doughnut is NOT a doughnut unless it’s a Krispy Kreme doughnut. In case you didn’t know, Krispy Kreme was born in NC. And you’ve got to wait for the “Hot ‘n Now” sign to be on or you put it in the microwave for 5 seconds. Once you’ve had one warm, you’ll realize there’s a huge difference. We never saw ads from them on TV but I knew about Dunkin’ Donuts from those “got to make the donuts” ads and I always wondered if they were any good. I remember “cheating” on KK for a DD in Atlanta and my first thought was “UGH! It tastes like cornbread!” If you’ve never had cornbread it’s kindof the consistency of muffin where I was used to something more like a croissant. I also remember not really wanting to share the Krispy Kreme southern tradition with the rest of the US. Let the Yankees have their Dunkin’ Donuts and bagels & CA can have their In & Out Burger and fusion cuisine – I don’t want to share Krispy Kreme!

Shhhh… even though I can get them here and in Delaware, I have never had a Krispy Kreme. I am afraid if I try one it will be the end as we know it of delectable desserts and donuts only. Don’t tell anyone…

My kids (so far) don’t react to sugar, but give my nephew a piece of chocolate (no kidding, one M&M will do it) and he is like a silver ball in a pinball machine.

I never liked doughnuts (or donuts…what’s the correct spelling?), until I moved to NC and someone took me for a hot Krispy Kreme. It melted in my mouth, and was probably one of the tastiest things I have ever had.

Wow I have learnt a lot about doughnuts today, there is a a whole world out there of variations. Bear Claw!!??!! Marsipan in a doughnut! Goodness gracious me whatever next! :)
