Every day is a birthday… when you’re TWO!

polka dot cupcakes

It seems like every other day we are eating cupcakes. I’ve often thought about this phenomenon as I’m trying to cut down on my sugar intake. There always seems to be some reason that I HAVE to break my no-sugar rule and just eat one more cupcake. Come on! How often is it somebody’s birthday?

Well…The truth is it’s somebody’s birthday or anniversary or just-had-a-baby day or something EVERY DAY!!!! So I guess I’m just not meant to be stick thin. Cupcakes are a fact of life.

red cupcakes!

If you’re Baby Bug that is not a problem at all! So we didn’t have a big blow-out birthday party for her this year. No problem! We’re just celebrating birthdays every day! Baby Bug thinks this is totally normal. It’s so fun to be TWO!

I've seen the light!

On Saturday we went to my friend Felix’s birthday party for her little girl who was born only one day after Baby Bug. Felix was due a month after me but her baby came a little early. It was the funniest thing when I was in the hospital and I walked down the hall to some nursing class or something and there was Felix with her baby! It’s kinda cool to have a friend show up where you least expect them.

Hugs

Wouldn’t it be cool if our kids grew up to be friends too? So far they seem to get along pretty well. Hugs all around!

the Birthday Girl

But of course the fun doesn't stop there. Oh no! I want to make sure my kid is good and addicted to sugar as bad as I am. From the red cup cake party we drove straight out to the sticks for a GREEN birthday party! We had green enchiladas, "nice big green leaf" salad, broccoli, green lemonade and GREEN JELLO POKE CAKE!

such a big girl

I’m not exactly sure how a “poke cake” is made but it has something to do with poking the cake and pouring jello inside it. I think usually the cake is white and the jello shows up really well but in the case of Baby Bug’s cake EVERYTHING was green. Green green green. It even had green cool whip icing. As Baby Bug would say, it was “TASTY!”

TWO candles!

It’s so great to be two. She got some really sweet gifts too. I’ll probably have to blog about them by and by… but right now BB and her cousin Superchic are bouncing up and down on the couches at the coffee shop that I’m borrowing wi-fi from so I think I better be finishing this up and skidaddling.

One Nice Green Leaf

one nice green leaf

The other day Baby Bug says to me, “I have a stomachache.”

Immediately I thought, oh no! How could she have a stomachache? Does she even know what a stomachache is? I asked her if her tummy hurt while my mind raced over what she had eaten in the last 24 hours.

Then she said, “I need one nice green leaf” and walked over to the sliding glass door to stare at the plants outside.

If you are familiar with “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” then you know what Baby Bug is up to. That silly girl. She thinks she is a caterpillar. And maybe she is since she’s been eating a string of things like birthday cake and ice cream and pizza just like the very hungry caterpillar these last few days. Maybe she does need one nice green leaf to make her feel better.

When she said it again at dinner time, I chopped her up some lettuce and gave her a “nice green leaf” salad. She seemed to like it. Or at least the salad dressing anyway.

"pretty silver moon"

I’m going out to my mom’s for the weekend and she does not have wifi at this moment. It’s some crazy mix-up with her shutting off her house phone-line and using cell phones as her primary source of communication and thus shutting off all cable connections etc etc etc… there’s always some sort of drama going down at Camp Chaotic. But this drama has seriously got me quivering with the shakes. What am I gonna do?!!! Life without the internet? Does it exist?

Normally, I would say this is a good thing. It’s about time I disconnected my head from my laptop and learned to appreciate the finer things in life, like paying 100% attention to my daughter for a change! BUT work is crazy busy right now! Not to mention, thanks to you wonderful people, my etsy shop is going off! I get about 20 emails an hour. I can’t let go. And if I do let go, when I get back I’ll be so buried I’ll die! I’m already months behind on some emails. Going without writing back for three or four days will just kill me. How did this happen?!!

If it weren’t for the fact that a very special “green birthday dinner” with a very curious green jello “poke cake” has been planned, I would consider not going out. And you know how much I like going out to the sticks! This is going to be very hard for me. I’m already plotting maps to all the free wi-fi locations within a twenty-mile radius of my mom’s house. I am that pathetic.

So anyway if you don’t hear from me (email-wise… not hearing from me blog-wise for a few days is nothing new) it’s because I’m lost in outer space. I will miss you probably more than you miss me. I hope to be back by Tuesday. Maybe sooner.
