Day Twenty-eight: Shameless Plug Day
November 28th, 2007Production of the letters has begun. I printed my first test print yesterday. They just need a few tweaks and they’ll be good. I hired my super crafty sister-in-law to sew some really nice muslin bags for them. Because packaging is everything, right? I can’t wait to see the whole prototype put together.
The one thing I can’t decide is if should I hand-punch every single corner to be rounded? Round corners look really really nice but do I have time to sit around punching punching punching? Maybe I do. I’m always jealous of you folks who can sit and knit or crochet while you watch a movie. Maybe I can watch a movie and punch.
I hope to list them on etsy by next week! In the meantime, check out my gift tags.

bb on the table best place to get away from the cats?
November 28th, 2007 at 9:51 pm
Heh. She’s not supposed to be up there. It’s been an on-going battle. The cats are allowed on the table (I know, shocking to those of you who don’t have cats… but we don’t really eat at this table) and BB has been throwing a fit that the cats are allowed up on the table and she is not. For this picture she scrambled up from my lap while I was reading emails. When she started playing with the cards I grabbed my camera for a photo op instead of getting her down like a good mom.

Only Grandma would know that she was on a table. Looks like a hard wood floor to me. Ten bags go out to you tomorrow.
November 28th, 2007 at 10:01 pm
I’m excited for you! I know you’ll do well :)
November 28th, 2007 at 10:17 pm
Yay! They look fantastic, SAJ. And we let our cats on the rarely-eaten-on-table, too. :-)
November 28th, 2007 at 10:27 pm
I still havent printed any yet so….I will just buy them instead, sweet! So much easier. And oh, how I love your illios, the tags are soooo cute!
November 28th, 2007 at 10:42 pm
Yes. cats, tables, tsk in our house too.
i LOVE the alphabet cards. Can’t wait to buy some.
November 28th, 2007 at 11:11 pm
They look fantastic!
November 28th, 2007 at 11:26 pm
I can’t wait for the cards. They look great. I don’t have a printer so I’ve been waiting to buy them.
That table looks just like ours :) (Ikea) I’m sorry I haven’t posted more comments recently but I’ve been snowed under with a 2 year old. I’m glad your feeling better. I have also had similarly rubbish days of late.
November 28th, 2007 at 11:37 pm
How much do you think the cards will be? I want to order them and a couple of sets of gift tags!
November 28th, 2007 at 11:50 pm
I think punching would be a lot of work, but that it would make the cards look professional (not that they don’t already) and also help them to last longer. Rounded edges don’t tear, bend or start to come apart as easy.
They look awesome by the way! It must feel great to be done!
November 28th, 2007 at 11:58 pm
Good luck, they look great!

Can’t wait to buy a set for my son’s stocking…that and some gift tags (want to buy all at once!) so cute!!
November 29th, 2007 at 6:18 am
Thank you so much for sharing these awesome letters! I have been downloading them all to start using with my son.
But, did I miss something? Is there a Z?
November 29th, 2007 at 6:44 am
The letters are awesome! And what is it about kids and wanting to be on the table - lol :o) My kids have a facination with “getting to sit on the countertops” - truth be told, I did too at that age! I thought it was cool to sit there and talk with my mom and dad about “stuff” :o) Thanks for sharing your creativity with all of us SAJ - we love ya!
November 29th, 2007 at 6:44 am
I was a little bit inconsistant on the card downloading so I will buy them! I love the gift tags too, you are so freaking talented! Thanks for sharing.
November 29th, 2007 at 6:47 am
Oh, one more thing, there is nothing shameless here, you have so earned it girl!
November 29th, 2007 at 7:10 am
They look awesome! Also, punched corners would probably be better for the kidlets, but honestly, punched or not, they are still just perfect.
November 29th, 2007 at 7:11 am
Gorgeous… all of them, rounded corners or no. :)
You know what would be amazing? If you offered single letters printed at a larger size that’s suitable for framing. I bet you could sell a lot more of them. (I’m assuming these are high-res images …?)
November 29th, 2007 at 7:17 am
Awesome! I saw the gift tags yesterday, you are really on the go. Round or not round you better get ready for the orders. Will you ship up North?
November 29th, 2007 at 7:43 am
Love. Those. Cards.
November 29th, 2007 at 8:08 am
How exciting! I love seeing projects come to a close just the way someone wanted them to.
November 29th, 2007 at 8:44 am
Nothing shameless about it - If I could do the work your do, I’d be shouting it from the rooftops.
I’d go fo the rounded corners as well. Get a good movie and punchity-punch-punch away. Last night I watched The Sopranos while crocheting.
November 29th, 2007 at 8:52 am
Love the cards and the gift tags too. I was really bummed that I missed downloading some of the cards so I’m hoping I can buy some when you get them put together.
November 29th, 2007 at 9:12 am
Magnifico!!!
November 29th, 2007 at 9:21 am
The cards are beautiful…. I’m going to keep nagging you for a poster of all the letters! I think it would look great.
November 29th, 2007 at 9:28 am
I can’t wait to buy these! I missed some of the downloads so I am extra excited.
November 29th, 2007 at 10:08 am
I think it would be adorable too in poster form….people would buy them up so fast! I can just picture a bedroom or playroom filled with the letters in funky frames! That would be too cool!
November 29th, 2007 at 11:49 am
Hi Brenda, i really love your site. I think your alphabet cards are awesome. As a teacher though, just wanted to make a comment about your ‘G for giraffe’ card. The more common sound g makes is a hard sound, rather than the ‘j’ of giraffe. Just in case your cards become big hits (which I’m sure they will!), some teachers/parents may make a comment like that too. Good luck!
November 29th, 2007 at 12:09 pm
I can’t wait until they are ready to purchase. I want at least 2 sets.
November 29th, 2007 at 5:19 pm
I love these! I, like many others, haven’t printed them yet and I think I’ll just buy them instead. My niece is going to love them! YAY!
November 29th, 2007 at 6:04 pm
Cute! I can’t wait to get a set.
So. . .gift tags, hmmmmm? How about some stylish luggage tags?? I would buy some!
November 29th, 2007 at 7:54 pm
Punching rounded corners is totally easy. I highly recommend the Creative Memories corner rounder. No, I don’t sell CM, I just know that their tools, particularly the punches, are the best in the biz. Find one on Ebay, they’re so much cheaper that way. If it gets dull, punch aluminum foil a few times to sharpen it up.
You can totally do it during a movie. You push the card all the way into the punch till it won’t go anymore and just press. So easy.
November 29th, 2007 at 8:34 pm
Any idea on the cost and when they will be ready? I’m getting the sense you won’t be able to print and corner-stamp enough sets to meet demand by Xmas — unless you have a LOT of movies to watch!
November 29th, 2007 at 11:11 pm
They are beautiful!! I’ll definitely have to get a set. We are really big on alphabet cards over here. Audrey uses them and blocks a lot in speech therapy.
