taking a walk

I took Bug on a really long walk today at sunset. It was so long, she fell asleep and stayed asleep. I had to carry her upstairs as carefully as I could and she’s still asleep in her clothes. I didn’t have the heart to wake her just to put on her “pajamas”. All her clothes are comfortable anyway so it’s not like it really makes a difference. Thankfully she ate dinner and had a bath before we took our epic walk.

I didn’t intend on taking such a long walk but it has been one of those days. I just couldn’t keep up with her today. So we walked and we walked and we walked. She chattered on and on and I day dreamed about an off switch. But now that she’s asleep, I feel guilty for wanting a break so badly.

Don’t be too hard on yourself, SAJ. We’ve all had days like those, when an off switch would have been nice. I am glad the walk calmed BB down and hope it relaxed you, too.

Sometimes I put everyone to bed 15 (once 45) minutes early because I’m DONE for the night. I hope the walk was nice. We’ve been in Whine Country lately. Audrey is finally cutting her first molars.

Yes we do all have days like that. I know exactly how you feel, even down to the feeling bad for wanting a break. Everyone needs breaks. Being a mom is a hard job.

  4. Heather Says:

All moms dream of an off switch, but even if the kids had one we’d probably never use it.

Don’t feel guilty, enjoy the break. They’re few and far between, so take full advantage.

This mommying business is all about guilt. I also feel guilty for wishing for an off on switch, but mostly I feel guilty when I tune my boys out when they start taking about the latest video game or new Pokemon. I nod a lot, but don’t hear much.

Never, ever feel guilty. We all have those days. Hubby went away once for a week. By the end of it, the kids were in bed at 6:30 for two nights in a row. After a sligh twinge of guilt, I said to heck with it and delved into my glass of wine and a good book.

I worked from home and never got things done. Never, ever. I became used to staying up past midnight on a regular basis to work. You know, because what we do all day long isn’t “work.” Hahahahahaha.

    Sending you hugs.

All mommy’s need a break and so do kids sometimes. Never feel guilty for wanting those quiet moments. We all need them from time to time so that we can appreciate the one thing we love so much.

If I lived near you I would have delighted in walking right by your side and enumerating the activities of the day.

We all need a break, no guilt necessary. It’s good for both your souls :-)

Hey, you were exercising! I have to say one of the things I miss most about my kids early years is the ability to plop them in the stroller and walk! I live in a really walkable neighborhood and it was always my favorite thing to do. I put myself into real labor with my daughter by taking my 3 year old on a 2 hour walk( and getting him to sleep during it)

I don’t want an off switch as a volume control…

    That should read:

I don’t want an off switch so much as a volume control…

I so need a break, SO badly… And I dream daily of an off switch, on any give child. It seems like God would have give us a remote for these little beings of ours you know? It just not fair sometimes…

I love when they fall asleep and stay asleep. I even think it is cute when they wake up in the morning and ask why they are still in their clothes. And fresh air in the evening is always a good way to end the day.
