another slow news day
May 24th, 2007
I picked these little baby roses and put them in a shot glass in my kitchen window because they smell so beautiful and my house smells rank. It’s not that bad, just you know… cats and a cat box and maybe I need to pour some bleach down the garbage disposal or something. The roses are sooooo pretty! Even prettier in real life. They make me happy every time I smell them or happen to glance over at their soft petals. I should pick flowers more often. I can’t take credit for growing them because I totally stole them from the neighbor’s front yard across the street. I don’t think they will miss them at all because their rose hedge is literally exploding with thousands of these little two inch rose buds. Thousands of them! It must be like heaven for them when they open their French doors and the fragrance wafts in. But I wouldn’t know. I’ve never met those neighbors.
Hmm…. I don’t have much new news today. Have you seen my new banner? That’s what I did today. I know I should wait until June is officially here to put it up but I was sick of the old one. And… speaking of banners, I picked May’s free-give-away-banner winner and she didn’t respond! You know what that means… time to pick a new winner! So if you’re in the drawing, stay on top of your email.
And now: Baby Bug! Because she matches the new banner (sort of) and without her you’d probably be falling asleep from boredom by now.

I love the roses! Pretty. We’re still in if entered last month, right?
SAJ says: Yep!

Pretty, I could use some right about now, but I think it’s the laundry that stinks, or maybe that big bag of garbage waiting by the door to go out, sigh, the work is never ending.
Your banner makes me thirsty…..caffine, mmmmm.

I love the new banner…so pretty!! The iced coffee is a nice added touch. ;)
If there was no coffee there would be no entrepreneurs in the world lol.
I seriously need coffee or I’d die. *lol* P.S. I entered the contest late but hope you’ll still throw my name into the hat. Have a great holiday weekend. :)

I love the new banner, so bright and colourful. You should meet your neighbours, if only to tell them how beautiful their roses are. We are having a super hot couple of days and I love the smell of all the flowers in the air. The humidity brings all the yummy outside smells out in the morning. These mornings are definately what I wait all winter for.

I love the banner and the roses! Try a 1/2 cup (or so) of vinegar in the disposal. Works great!!

Your new banner is very summer. Perfect!
I love the roses. So much that I vote we get to see a picture of your neighbors border! How long do they stay in bloom?
Put a lemon rind or other citrus in your disposal!

Beautiful roses! Wish I had a neighbor to steal them from. :)

We’ve been at our house over a year and haven’t met one neighbor yet. None of our neighbors have beautiful roses, but I probably wouldn’t want to meet them either because then I might feel guilty for stealing their roses! : )

Mmmmm…. Coffee.
I love the banner. As soon as I clicked over I thought to myself, “Wow! I love that! I want to jump right into to that gigantic cup of iced coffee!” Mmmmm…. A gigantic vat of iced coffee to swim through. Lovely!

If you have a garbage disposal, occasionally pushing a few lemon skins thru it cuts odors. The acid acts similarly to vinegar - without smelling so chemistry-lab like. We’re in the middle of pruning our lemon tree, and expect to squeeze about 10 gallons of lemon juice today. Makes fantastic strawberry lemonade! :)

I was going to comment on the cuteness of the little hearts cut out in Baby Bug’s shoes, but since it seems to have turned into garbage disposal chat, I thought I’d throw my two cents in. When I get in a cleaning mood (The big, “I’m freaking out about other things, and to distract myself I shall scrub my house until it is clean, clean, clean!” kind of mood) I like to clean the kithen sink with lemons and baking soda. I cut a lemon in half, sprinkle the cut side with baking soda and use it to scrub the sink. The acid in the lemon plus the abrasive/deodorizer of the baking soda leave it looking great, and smelling delightful, and then I toss the whole thing in the disposal with a haldful of ice cubes and let it run with cool water. (I read somewhere that ice cubes help to keep the blades sharp (I have no idea if it’s true, might just be an old wives’ tale) so that’s why I toss them in as well.)

Baby Bug looks like such a big girl, sitting on her cushion, surveying her domain…
