Rice Cereal!
May 31st, 2006
Turns out Baby Bug loves rice cereal. She’s a good eater, just like her mom. This is a movie I made during her first two tries. Now she eats it like a pro. I only worry that she might lurch forward in her exersaucer and gag herself on the spoon in her exuberance. Note to self: find better seat to feed baby in.
Here you go: Rice Cereal! (1.12 megs, quicktime)

How cute! It looks like she likes it. :)

Try feeding her in the Bumbo. A lot of the reviews I read on it had people talking about using it for feeding. Fisher Price also makes a legless high-chair that you attaches to your existing chair (saves floor space) - the sitter puts Baby Felix in it and she fits well (it’s on my to-purchase-list but we’re not actually feeding her anything yet - she’s growing just fine on formula - passing Baby Bug right up). :)

Friend of whoorls. This is what I would recommend:

A bouncer also works well if she isn’t sitting up.
I love my booster seat. We take it to dinner, other friends houses, etc. :)

Am I the only person who thinks kids with food smeared all over their faces look disgusting? It seriously makes me nauseous. I really don’t understand what is cute about it. (I’m talking about kids in general here.)

What a riot! You can tell she sure likes her food. At least she’s getting most of it in her mouth.

She definitely likes her rice cereal. I can’t wait to see her reaction to the good stuff, like applesauce! I love how she was trying to lap up the cereal at one point. My monkey just started those “trumpet raspberries” too. She’s not half as verbal as Baby Bug though.

Baby Bjorn makes a great seat — it’s a portable bouncy seat (with no batteries! And a toy bar!) that might work for you. Whatever you do, I’d say you can skip the full-on highchair; they make such great boosters these days. In the end, it’s up to the baby — our daughter recently told us that she’s done with her highchair.
Thanks for the great video! Lucy’s first food was carrots and we have funniest pictures of her facial expressions. I wouldn’t be able to remember those days without the pictures as proof!

Baby Bug is growing up right before our very eyes. I can’t believe she’s on cereal.

Aw, that’s just lovely.

Now, Daddy needs to get in the act and take pictures of Mommie feeding Baby Bug.
10-to 1 odds, I bet as time goes on, YOU start making faces (opening your own mouth wide) to get her to open her mouth. This will happen when the novelty of eating wears a little on Bug, and her attention lapses elsewhere while you are trying to feed her. I know it will happen because my dau is as fun to watch as my grandson when she is feeding him.
Also, get ready to keep her hands occupied with a couple of spoons, (grin).

She is adorable. And I second the booster suggestion. We have a hight chair and a booster and if I knew ahead of time how convenient the booster is I wouldn’t have gottent the high chair.

i liked the movie, but the photograph is my favorite. i love how you can see the moisture at the edges of her eyes–so tender and perfect.

Now you start “New food Sunday” or whatever day you choose. If you introduce one food at a time for a week you can see what, if anything, that she is allergic to. She will be eating Grandpa’s chicken wings before you know it. j
